Inostrancevia is an extinct genus of carnivorous therapsids, containing the largest members of the Gorgonopsidae family; predators characterized by long saber-toothed canines. He lived in northern Russia during the Russian geological age known as the Upper Tatarian equivalent to the Wuchiapingian age of the Upper Permian, approximately 260 to 254 Ma. He is known for several skulls and two almost complete skeletons.
