Not all the marine reptiles during the Mesozoic were colossal, Leptocleidus was a genus of plesiosaurs from the Leptocleididae family, that lived during the early Cretaceous. Depending on the species their length ranged from 2 to 3 m, such sizes could have allowed enter into fresh water rivers near the coasts they lived.
