Purranisaurus is an extinct genus of metriorrinchids, a group of marine crocodylomorphs of the Quinchamale formation, Antofagasta Region, Middle Jurassic of Chile and also in Argentina.
Rusconi originally classified Purranisaurus potens (the type species) as a plesiosaur; later, Gasparini proved that it was in fact a metriorrinch thalatosuch, and that it could be a minor synonym of the better known Metriorhynchus.
Here they can be seen hunting a group of Lepidotus.
